2nd October 2025 | Royal Visits to Surrey

We were honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO on Tuesday 30 September to Surrey. The Duke started his day in Surrey with a visit to Reigate Grammar School 350th anniversary celebrations. The visit was shaped by the six core values underpinning the 350th celebrations: *BeKind *BeGiving *BePartners *BeGreen *Be Global and *BeInspired and these were showcased though musical performances, art displays, and conversations with students. Thw Duke then planted a tree symbolising the 3,500 trees being planted through their *BeGreen pledge.

His Royal Highness then visited Zone3, the UK’s leading triathlon and open-water swimming brand, to present a King’s Award for ‘Enterprise in International Trade’. The award was formally presented to founder and CEO James Lock.
This is the second time Zone3 has received the award, having first won the prestigious honour in 2018. With a host of other awards and accolades, the news cements Zone3’s position as one of the UK’s most successful and globally recognised triathlon brands.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise celebrate outstanding achievements by UK businesses across innovation, sustainability and international trade. With products now available in over 35 countries, Zone3 was recognised for its sustained global growth, product innovation and commitment to excellence.

His Royal Highness then visited the Eclipse Leisure Centre in Staines-upon-Thames. During the visit, The Duke toured the state-of-the-art facility, which officially opened in October 2024, and met with a wide range of community users. Highlights of the tour included the Centre’s modern gym, dual swimming pools, sports hall, climbing zone, and rooftop 3G pitches. His Royal Highness also observed activities including a Spelthorne Parkinson’s Group gym session, a U3A Pickleball game, table tennis and a school swim lesson.
The visit concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by The Duke, marking the occasion and recognising Eclipse’s contribution to health, wellbeing, and sustainability in the borough.
