Dedicated volunteers from the Friends of Ash Link receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Dedicated volunteers from the Friends of Ash Link – the volunteering group of Spelthorne Natural History Society – gathered on Splash Meadow in Shepperton as Michael More-Molyneux, Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, presented the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018. This Honour recognised the group’s outstanding environmental regeneration work, which started in 2007, to create the Ash Link Nature Reserve in 2011. Conservation is ongoing: from 2007 to 2018 the Friends of Ash Link group was led successfully by Peter Routley and, with his recent move to Devon, Irving Lord now leads the volunteers.
