15th October 2015 | Royal Visits to Surrey

The University of Surrey’s new School of Veterinary Medicine was officially opened by HM The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the £45 million School with its state-of-the-art clinical skills facilities and one of the best veterinary pathology centres in Europe. In the Large Animal Clinical Skills Building they met students undertaking equine examinations and working with livestock. The Royal Party also viewed a demonstration in the Biomechanics Laboratory, where they met ‘Supervet’ Professor Noel Fitzpatrick and dogs that had benefitted from prosthetic limb surgery. Finally, they spoke with students and staff during teaching sessions in the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
