999 Emergency Services Day

The 9th September is the UK’s Emergency Services Day or 999 Day and it is our opportunity to show support to our emergency services. Deputy Lieutenant, Richard Whittington visited South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) at its Chertsey Make Ready Centre on 999 Emergency Services Day.

He was given a tour of the facility by the Make Ready Centre Manager Sally Laven, and Operational Unit Manager, Jo Crerar. Richard spoke to staff and learnt about how the Trust’s Paramedic Practitioners (PPs) support ambulance crews arrange appropriate pathways and treatment for patients via the Trust’s PP hubs, which helps reduce the number of patients requiring transport to hospital.

Jo Crerar said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Richard to Chertsey and I would like to thank him for his kind words and the support he showed to all our staff on 999 Day. I am sure he found the visit very enlightening, and I would like thank him for taking the time to visit and learn more about the work of our teams across the region.”
