Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation
Farncombe Church of England Infant School was presented with a Surrey Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation by Deputy Lieutenant, Perdita Hunt OBE.
The school has shown courage and hope during the Covid Pandemic. The vision of the School is ‘let all you do, be done in love’ and its values are inspiration, imagination and individuality. This has been exemplified by the efforts of staff and teachers in providing for pupils during lockdown. The school continued to offer classes for the children of key workers throughout the Pandemic. Teaching on zoom was provided for those isolated at home, and information and papers were available for parents to collect. In keeping with guidance, teachers were obliged to teach with masks, there was one-way system in operation through the school and separate lunchtimes were arranged for different bubble groups with the work of sanitizing the eating area between each serving. It was a challenge to face the changing legislation, without any prior warning. Opening for one day on 5 January and then having to close again on 6 January was a low point. Families who faced difficulties with accessing IT were supported by the school with loans of equipment. The Head Teacher, Andrea Simonsson, even visited pupils outside their homes to give them a wave. Today the School has re-opened and is resuming its service and reputation as “a wonderful small and caring school with superb teaching and calm leadership”.
