Surrey Mayors and Chairmen visit to Loseley House

On Wednesday 26^th July, The Lord-Lieutenant welcomed Mayors from across Surrey to Loseley House for evening tea.

Attending Mayors included those from Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford, Godalming, Haslemere, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead, Runnymede, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley and Woking. Despite some of their lengthy commutes, all were in high spirits and enjoyed the tour of the house from the Lord-Lieutenant – which included facts and jokes regarding its long history.

As poor weather conditions unfortunately prevented us from exploring the gardens, conversations continued inside between constituency representatives, ranging from discussing political affairs to casual chatter.

Cadets Flora Green and Flight Sergeant Samuel Baker were also in attendance and enjoyed mingling with guests. Notably, Flora was charmed to receive a fist-bump from a child of one of the Mayors and representatives from Woking were keen to gain an insight into Samuel’s opinions of their town, as a resident of Woking.

Many of the Mayors had council meetings to attend immediately after the gathering, but all left with information regarding the process of nominating local voluntary groups for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, so we can all hope that a spotlight continues to be cast on the tremendous charitable work completed across Surrey, so that groups may be commended appropriately.
