Lieutenancy Represented at Czechoslovak Veterans Memorial Service

On Sunday 25 October, Deputy Lieutenant Sam Hibbs represented the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey at the annual Memorial Association for Free Czechoslovak Veterans (MAFCSV) ceremony held at Brookwood Military Cemetery.

The service commemorates the sacrifice and service of Czechoslovak veterans and brings together members of the Czech and Slovak communities, diplomatic representatives, veterans, cadets, scouts and local schools. This year’s event was attended by more than 150 guests, including the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, alongside representatives from the Australian and New Zealand defence communities.

During the ceremony, a wreath was laid at the Czechoslovak Memorial on behalf of the Surrey Lieutenancy. The event was organised by the Memorial Association for Free Czechoslovak Veterans and was widely regarded as a fitting and respectful tribute, with strong support from young people, veterans and community organisations.

The Surrey Lieutenancy was honoured to be represented at this important occasion, which helps preserve the memory of those who served and strengthens the enduring ties between communities, veterans and international partners.
