Brockham Emergency Response Team (BERT)
The BERT team has been busy in Brockham Village, making sure the heavy winter rains did not result in flooding for villagers’ homes and roads. When not hard at work clearing ditches and paths, these energetic volunteers (of all ages) are always helping to deliver prescriptions for the housebound, doing their essential shopping, and packing food boxes for local food banks. It’s such examples of outstanding community support in action that resulted in BERT receiving The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018, presented by the Lord-Lieutenant himself.
