Calling all Veterans across Surrey and beyond!

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and Surrey Civilian-Military Partnership Board (SCMPB) are delighted to host their second online Veteran’s Hub on Tuesday 2 March from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

In addition to offering comradery, the hub will provide veterans, ex-service personnel and their families with the opportunity to get together virtually to receive support and advice whilst still adhering to Covid-19 restrictions.

The session, which has been timed for early evening following feedback requests from the first event, will feature three guest speakers all outlining local support that is freely available to ex-service personnel and their families. The first is Lorraine Buchanan, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Woking, followed by Jim France, South East Area Manager for The Royal British Legion and finishing with Samantha Lawrence from the Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service.

Armed Forces Champion and Chairman of SCMPB, Peter Martin, said, “I’m delighted that the second online Veteran’s Hub will be taking place in March following such a successful first event in December.

“These events are so important for our veterans, ex-service personnel and their families – especially at a time where a lot of people are shielding or experiencing less social interaction than usual.

“Please share this invite with anyone you feel might benefit – we’d really love to see you all online in March.”

Join on Zoom: http://bit.ly/SurreyVetHub using the ID: 944 2983 1498 and passcode: Veterans.

Once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so, ex-service personnel, veterans and their families will once again be able to visit the network of Veteran Hubs and drop-ins across the county. These will include hubs within Surrey Fire and Rescue Service fire stations at Guildford, Woking and Fordbridge. Further information on other Surrey hubs can be found on www.surreycc.gov.uk/armedforces.

If you have any queries, email armedforces@surreycc.gov.uk. Additional sources of help and support can be found 24/7 from the ‘Forces Connect’ mobile app.
