Home-Start East Surrey
Deputy Lieutenant, Peter Lee had the privilege of visiting Home-Start East Surrey on 7 July 2021 to present to them with the Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation, to say thank you on behalf of the Lieutenancy. HSES helps families going through difficult times such as isolation, bereavement or family breakdown. Covid has presented additional challenges for them, both in increasing the number of referrals they receive, and being able to support the families in need. Peter met the team at Home-Start at their office in Redhill, and one of their volunteers and the young mother (and her child) she had been matched with, who had come through the most difficult 15 months imaginable. She described her volunteer as “like a mother to me” which tells you all you need to know about what HSES do. The photograph shows how well mother and child are now doing thanks to HSES’ intervention.
