Lieutenancy Appreciation Award
On Wednesday 10th May, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Sir Stephen Lamport, presented Valerie Beynon with a Lieutenancy Appreciation Award in recognition of her exceptional contribution over nearly 50 years to choral singing in Surrey.
Val is musical director of the Oxshott and Horsley Choral Societies, who both won first prizes at this year’s Leith Hill Music Festival, and of the St Andrew’s Church choir in Oxshott. In presenting the Award the Vice Lord-Lieutenant praised Val’s outstanding ability over many years to inspire a lasting love of choral music among children and adults across the county.
