Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation
On 12th October the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Sir Stephen Lamport presented a Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation to the Cobham Area Food Bank, established in 2013 and still managed by Christina van Roest. The work of the Food Bank, which is run with the dedication of some 80 volunteers, became, as with food banks across the country, ever more important during the pandemic. Its daily distribution of food and necessities, a lifeline to many families in the area, continued every week throughout the pandemic. Sadly, as in many parts of Britain, there is no sign that the need for the vital work of such charities will decline in the foreseeable future.
