Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet -(CCF) Cadet Sergeant Electra Mykoniatis – Reigate Grammar School Combined Cadet Force

Becoming a Lord- Lieutenant’s Cadet is not something I expected to happen, and my route in becoming one is not the most conventional.  Accidentally missing an interview, didn’t give the best impression to my interviewers and my application. However, despite this I communicated with the team, and they were very understanding of my reasoning and allowed me to have a second interview. After this setback everything went smoothly. This past year I have encountered and met people that I would have never had the chance to, if not for my role as a cadet for the Lord Lieutenant. I have seen aspects of my community and met people that I would have only read about otherwise.

From experiences like attending The Queen’s Green Canopy Tree planting and getting down to work by planting and digging alongside other volunteers. To meeting The Duchess of Edinburgh, in one of the schools she supports and seeing the massive effect that she has in our community. I have experienced so many opportunities that I will hold as lifelong memories, and most importantly I have met people that will be lifelong friends. Additionally, I have strengthened my skills to communicate effectively in any situation. Through the many opportunities granted to me in the past year I have learned The Lord- Lieutenant’s influence on the community, and the good it does for the community.

Becoming a Lord -Lieutenant’s Cadet is an experience I wish everyone was able to live and experience.
