President of the Czech Republic visit to Brookwood Military Cemetery
On Saturday 6th May, after the Coronation, General Petr Pavel the President and First Lady of the Czech Republic visited Brookwood Military Cemetery with the Ambassador and DA, to lay a wreath at the Memorial.
Met by Deputy Lieutenant, Steve Owen-Hughes MBE QFSM, and alongside the Czech Ambassador and her husband, the Czech Defence Attaché, the UK parliamentary under-secretary of state for defence people, veterans and service families, The President was given a tour of the plot at the cemetery and visited the Liberator headstone and Marina Pauliny’s grave.


The President and Minister laid a wreath at the memorial and talked about those who were laid to rest at both plots, they also visited a number of individual graves. They then went to the trench experience and discussed the importance of young people learning about the conditions of soldiers in conflict, and the context this provides to history teaching.
