Principal of Royal Holloway honoured with CBE for services to higher education and technology
The Lord-Lieutenant is delighted that Professor Paul Layzell, Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey, has been awarded the honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Birthday 2022 Honours List for services to higher education and technology.
Professor Layzell has been Principal of Royal Holloway for 12 years and also serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of London.
Three other Surrey Deputy Lieutenants were also recognised in the Honours List, Mr Christopher Brewer DL, Chair YMCA East Surrey, was awarded an MBE for charitable services to Young People, Ms Charlotte Kneer DL, CEO I Choose Freedom received an MBE for Services to victims of domestic abuse in Surrey and Mr Steve Owen-Hughes MBE DL was awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal.
