Surrey Day 2026
The eighth annual Surrey Day takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026 – and we can’t wait to come together to celebrate the delights of our beautiful county.
A free community initiative, Surrey Day is led by a partnership between Visit Surrey, BBC Radio Surrey, and The Surrey Lieutenancy – but it’s Surrey’s people and places that really make it a special day. So, if you haven’t got involved before – make this the year you do!
Renowned space scientist, presenter, author and Guildford resident, Dame Maggie Aderin, has been announced as the Surrey Day 2026 ambassador.
In the run-up to Surrey Day 2026, Visit Surrey and BBC Surrey have also teamed up up to give away a fantastic range of prizes live on air. Find out more about this year’s Surrey Day giveaway.
Everyone is warmly invited to take part in Surrey Day – whether by hosting an event, visiting favourite local attractions, tuning in to BBC Radio Surrey’s coverage, or simply sharing what you love most about Surrey on social media.
Some ideas and inspiration for making the most of Surrey Day:
- Attractions – Consider offering free entry for Surrey residents for the day, or create a special behind-the-scenes experience visitors don’t usually get to enjoy. This year’s themes (below) may provide some inspiration!
- Pubs, restaurants & hotels – Celebrate the county’s fantastic produce with a special Surrey-inspired menu or showcase the local food and drink producers you support.
- Towns & villages – Highlight what makes your community a great place to live, work and visit, whether through special events, street parties, Surrey Day offers or creative online initiatives.
- Everyone – Share what makes Surrey special to you. Post online using #SurreyDay or head out to your favourite local spot and share a photo.
- The Surrey flag – Did you know that Surrey has an official flag? You can learn more about the Surrey flag here – and, if you have one, make sure to fly it on the day. The colour of Surrey Day itself is green, a blend of our flag’s colours and a celebration of being the most wooded county in England.
Our Surrey Day themes for 2026:
- GOING UNDERGROUND FOR SURREY DAY
One of our key themes for 2026 will be exploring ‘Underground Surrey’. From food and drink production, to wonderful places to visit both above and below ground – Surrey Day delves into the layers of soil, rock, and history that support and shape our county. There’s so much we don’t know about ‘what lies beneath’ and we can’t wait to find out more. - HIDDEN TREASURES FOR SURREY DAY
We’re looking to spark an interest in getting to know Surrey from a different perspective, through a series of ‘treasure hunts’ across the county. They will give everyone a chance to explore the place we’re lucky enough to call home and perhaps learn something new!
Upload your events
As well as uploading your Surrey Day 2026 event(s) on the Visit Surrey website, make sure to share them on social media using the hashtag #SurreyDay and we will share as much positivity as possible! You’ll find us at @VisitSurrey on Facebook and Instagram.
Tune in to BBC Radio Surrey
On Surrey Day itself, tune into BBC Radio Surrey on 104.6 FM to enjoy a full day of programmes dedicated to Surrey Day.
We can’t wait to celebrate Surrey Day with you all!
