The Queen Elizabeth II Stand, Epsom Downs

On 2 June, on the eve of this year’s Derby weekend and as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Epsom Downs Racecourse, the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Sir Stephen Lamport, renamed the main stand of the racecourse The Queen Elizabeth II Stand.  The stand had previously been known as The Queen’s Stand.

The re-naming not only celebrated The Queen’s very personal association with Epsom Downs and the Derby, but it was the racecourses’s way of saying thank you to Her Majesty for her 70 years of unswerving duty and service.
