On Friday 7th October, the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey was delighted to visit one of Intergenerational Music Making’s (IMM) vibrant Intergenerational Creative Health Hub sessions in Guildford.
The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for him to experience first-hand how music and creative health is transforming lives and communities across Surrey. Participants from the local nursery, care homes, Surrey Choices, volunteers, church members and local families came together in a shared space of creativity and connection a true reflection of the power of intergenerational practice in action.
The session, led by IMM’s team of music therapists and creative practitioners, showcased how simple acts of singing, rhythm and movement and conversation can bridge generations, reduce loneliness and foster wellbeing for all ages.
Intergenerational Music Making (IMM) is a local charitable organisation dedicated to bringing generations together through the power of music and intergenerational connection. Its Intergenerational Creative Health Hubs, developed in partnership with health, education and community sectors, act as local ecosystems for wellbeing using creativity as a catalyst for social connection, resilience and joy.
The Lord-Lieutenant met participants, carers and young volunteers, recognising the remarkable impact of IMM’s work and its role in building a more compassionate, connected and inclusive Surrey.
