Visit to 5th Bookham Brownies
On Monday 22nd April the Lord-Lieutenant visited 5th Bookham Brownies.
5th Bookham Brownies are part of the Bookham & Effingham District (Leatherhead Division) and Surrey East County of Girlguiding. The unit has been meeting for over 60 years in and around Bookham. Their hut has recently been given a fresh coat of paint and a freshen up: the Girls are very proud that they decided on the colour!
There are currently 10 Brownies in the unit (seven to ten years old) of which three took their Promise to the Brownies and HM The King on the evening.

The evening also included a ppresentation to Pat Garbutt for over forty years of Volunteering to the Brownies. Pat “Snowy Owl” has been involved in Girlguiding for over forty two years at Unit, District and County level; and as a mentor. She has led Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in several regions and is a past County Duke of Edinburgh advisor.
The Lord-Lieutenant also presented Sue Iron’s with a Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation. Sue “Tawny Owl” joined the unit as leader in training around eight and half years ago on the retirement of the previous leader. She has also been a District Commissioner for Bookham and Effingham for the last 3 years.
