Visit to Ewell Trefoil Guild
Mary Zoeller DL was invited to join Ewell Trefoil Guild’s meeting earlier this week to talk about the Surrey Lieutenancy and her role as a Deputy Lieutenant.
The Trefoil Guild is the official branch of Girlguiding in the UK for adults aged 18 and over, offering social connection, personal challenges and ongoing support for guiding. There were about 20 members at the meeting.
Mary gave a brief history of how the Lieutenancy came into being and explained the difference between the High Sheriff and the Lord Lieutenant and how both roles have developed over the centuries.
Mary shared some of her experiences as a DL and what the role involves. The group was very engaged and asked lots of questions afterwards about her commission, the Lieutenancy badge, her favourite events to attend and how the Lieutenancy supports businesses, charities and other organisations in the county.
Mary was presented with a beautiful flowering cactus by the Trefoil Chair Mrs Mary Holloway-Neville which was gratefully received. Thank you to all those who attended.
