VJ Day in Spelthorne
August 15th 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War. In the interests of public safety Spelthorne Armed Forces Partnership have pre-recorded a ceremony to mark the occasion. The ceremony will be posted on Spelthorne Borough Council’s website and streamed on their social media channels at 11am on the 15th August. The ceremony commemorates the Allied Forces from a host of nations that fought the bitter campaign in the Far East for another three months after victory was declared in Europe, it remembers those who were imprisoned and those who never came home.
