Volunteers of BERT receive a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at Brockham Green

The volunteers of the Brockham Emergency Response Team (BERT) were one of nine Surrey groups to receive the coveted Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in June 2018. On 8 July, BERT Trustees and these volunteers gathered on Brockham Green with invited guests to celebrate the presentation of the Queen’s Award to BERT Chairman, Bob Thomas by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux. The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Bill Biddell read the citation, and the event (which was organised by Robert Bartlett) included a short presentation of the valuable community work undertaken by the volunteers – including the Young BERT team – and a display of BERT emergency response equipment. Following the display, guests enjoyed tea and cake provided by St Catherine’s Hospice.
