Congratulations to the Surrey County Council Armed Forces Team
Congratulations to the Surrey County Council’s Armed Forces Covenant team who have had their Ministry of Defence Gold Employers Recognition Award re-validated for a further five years. The award recognises their outstanding commitment and support to the Armed Forces Community.
SCC has over 750 members of staff who are ex-service personnel, 28 reservists as well as a number of Cadet Volunteers. This award highlights their best practice as an employer in recognising and meeting the needs of staff who are connected to the military, including their family members. This includes, granting additional paid leave for reservists to undertake annual training and recognising the core skills that reservists and ex-service personnel bring to their SCC roles.
Surrey is home to:
- Approximately 6,000 Regular members of the armed forces with 625 known service families and 1,265 service children,
- Over 210 Reservists,
- 2,907 Cadets,
- 555 Cadet Adult Volunteers and,
- 40,000 veterans.
The award is valid for a further five years.
