HM Lord-Lieutenant Celebrates Community Spirit at Spelthorne in Bloom Awards

His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Neelam Devesher MBE, was delighted to attend the Spelthorne in Bloom Awards on Monday 2 November as Guest of Honour, accompanied by her cadets, Jessica and Dylan

Spelthorne in Bloom is an annual community competition that celebrates the passion, creativity and dedication of volunteer gardeners across the Borough of Spelthorne. The awards evening brought together 140 residents, gardening enthusiasts and supporters to recognise the outstanding efforts of individuals and organisations who help make their communities more welcoming, vibrant and environmentally friendly.

Thirteen award categories were presented during the evening by the Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Sandra Dunn, Spelthorne MP Lincoln Jopp MC, and Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squires Garden Centres. Guests were welcomed by Stuart Blight, General Manager of Notcutts Garden Centre, while the ceremony was expertly compered by Nick Wood-Dow DL, Chairman of Spelthorne in Bloom and one of the county’s Deputy Lieutenants

Among the evening’s notable winners, Bronzefield Prison received the Best New Entrant Award, while the prestigious Best in Show title was awarded to Jo Warren for her beautiful front garden in Ashford

The event highlighted the remarkable contribution made by volunteers, community groups and local residents whose enthusiasm and hard work enhance neighbourhoods throughout the borough. Through colourful planting, creative displays and a commitment to their local environment, participants continue to demonstrate the pride and community spirit that make Surrey such a special place in which to live.
