Age UK Surrey Volunteers Receive Lieutenancy Awards
Four Age UK Surrey volunteers were recognised for exceptional service and presented with a Surrey Lieutenancy Award at a volunteer tea party held at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking. The event was organised to thank all Age UK Surrey volunteers for their outstanding support.
Age UK Surrey Volunteers Marion Thompson, Mike Roberts, Clive Scott and John Hayman-Joyce received the Award from Deputy Lieutenant, Mrs Lavinia Sealy, who is also the Age UK Surrey President.
On presenting the awards, Lavinia Sealy said “It was so heartening to hear about the outstanding achievements of each of these individuals and their commitment to their volunteering roles with Age UK Surrey during the Covid pandemic. They went ‘over and above’ to ensure that older people were regularly supported in a variety of ways. I hope they feel very proud of their outstanding work. The Lieutenancy Award is a recognition for each of them in their outstanding work – and a thank you for it. You have supported so many older people in Surrey – alleviating loneliness and isolation, keeping people active and giving them companionship through the walking programme, finding new ways to deliver social activities and enabling many more people to volunteer to do these things, which have transformed and enlivened so many lives during the lockdowns and its aftermath. Grateful thanks from the Lieutenancy!”
