HRH The Countess of Wessex visits University of Surrey, opening Kate Granger Building
HRH The Countess of Wessex visited the University of Surrey to officially open the Kate Granger Building. This new Health Sciences institute is named after the NHS doctor who spearheaded the #hellomynameis campaign that encourages healthcare professionals to establish a personal connection with patients, and is a fitting tribute to Kate’s legacy of more compassionate healthcare treatment. The Countess met with Dr Granger’s widower, with students and staff as she toured the state-of-the-art facility. It is home to the prestigious School of Health Sciences and thus at the forefront of delivering world-class teaching to educate the next generation of UK nurses, midwives, physicians’ associates and paramedics. She also viewed a simulation suite that recreates clinical scenarios that students may face in their careers and visited purpose-built wards replicating hospital situations, where she saw student nurses and midwives refining their clinical care skills.
