King’s Award for Enterprise and Corporate Social Responsibility event, Surrey Research Park, Guildford.

‘Surrey Lieutenancy, in partnership with Community Foundation for Surrey and Surrey
Research Park, hosted an event at Surrey Research Park Guildford on Monday 22nd June.
In the presence of Vice Lord Lieutenant Robert Fraser MVO DL, more than 20 companies
based on Surrey Research Park and from around Surrey participated in an event designed
to celebrate the county’s past successes in The King’s Awards for Enterprise, as well as
encouraging more local companies to apply for a King’s Award, which are awarded in
recognition of outstanding achievement by UK businesses
A Panel of past winners from the county, including RE-NOURISH, Stanhope-SETA and
Denbies Wine Estate, shared tips on how to make a winning entry, and the benefits of
winning an Award.
In addition, a separate Panel discussed the impact that can be created across Surrey by
active corporate social responsibility (‘CSR’) programmes in companies, with examples
of successful practice. Research on CSR at national level was combined with
perspectives from Surrey-based companies and beneficiaries – Sente Software, SATRO,
Stanhope-SETA and Community Foundation for Surrey – to develop ideas on how best to
support companies in their CSR strategies and activities moving forward.
Vice Lord Lieutenant Robert Fraser said: ‘The Kings Award for Enterprise is the highest
national accolade for business success, and the ultimate recognition of what a business
has achieved. Surrey businesses have been very successful over the many years of the
Awards programme, and the Surrey Lieutenancy is keen to encourage more great Surrey
businesses to learn about the scheme and put themselves forward for an Award that
brings national and international recognition of business excellence’
