Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards Ceremony
On 21st October the Lord-Lieutenant attended the Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards Ceremony at Denbies Wine Estate. This ceremony is an opportunity to recognise individuals who demonstrate the volunteer ethos and to build and nurture the enduring relationships that are so important to the County and local community. This is done through the awarding of Medals and Her Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service, amongst other awards. Her Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service were instituted in order to afford public recognition to those members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose efforts are not recognised by the twice yearly Honours Lists. The Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate thus ranks second to the Queen’s Honours Lists.

This year, the Lord-Lieutenant also appointed five cadets from the Combined Cadet Force and each of the community Cadet forces to support him on official engagements during the year that they are appointed. The appointment marks the achievement of outstanding service by an individual to their Cadet movement. A Certificate is awarded, together with a Lord-Lieutenant’s Badge which the individual is entitled to wear when in uniform.
The Lord-Lieutenant’s cadets for 2021-2022 are :
Cadet Company Sergeant Major Charles Bright – Reigate Grammar School Combined Cadet Force
Petty Cadet Officer Lucas Broomfield – Camberley Unit Sea Cadet Corps
Leading Cadet Kai-William Taylor-Pullen – Staines and Eggham Unit Sea Cadet Corps
Staff Cadet Colour Sergeant Eleanor Lowery – Mytchett Detachment, Surrey (PWRR Bn) Army Cadet Force
Cadet Flight Sergeant Freya Wild – 1254 (Godalming) Squadron, Surrey Wing Air Training Corps
