Two weeks ago I attended the 2023-2024 Surrey Poppy Appeal launch at Pirbright barracks. Since its emergence as a symbol of remembrance after the First World War poppies have taken on various shapes and sizes and this year the Royal British Legion are launching a new plastic free poppy which can be recycled in ordinary paper recycling collections. , As we approach Remembrance Sunday please wear a poppy to show the Armed Forces community you care and by buying a poppy you will help the Royal British Legion raise vital funds to support serving personnel , veterans and their families all year round.
